The Winter forest is sometimes imagined as cold, inaccessible, dormant- even dead. When you take the time to slowly enter and observe the forest in Winter, a different reality is revealed.
The palette may be more stark and slower paced, but beauty abounds and always has something to teach us. Join Walk in Awe, for a slow meander along the Hardwick Trails. In the tradition of Shinrin Yoku or Forest Bathing, we will use all of our senses to experience the forest and stream through a series of invitations. Over the course of two hours, we will walk quietly, focusing on the sights, smells, sounds, textures, and feelings of the forest, pausing periodically to share our insights with the group. We will end the walk by sharing a cup of tea made with plants from the place we have walked. $5-$10 sliding scale fee.
Trails are groomed and often walkable with boots, but depending upon the snow load wearing snow shoes might be advisable if you have them. There may be a couple of pairs available to borrow (please RSVP if you are looking to borrow). We will be moving slowly, so please dress very warm with layers! Please leave your dog friends at home.
