Presentation on Winter Deer Yards

The Braintree and Randolph Conservation Commissions are co-sponsoring the following free event which should be of interest to anyone who wonders how wildlife make it through a winter like this one!

And here's a description of the presentation:
Winter ecology of white-tailed deer and the importance of deer wintering areas. The talk will focus on how deer are adapted to survive harsh winter weather and the important role that deer wintering areas play.

Nick Fortin is a native of Derby, VT and grew up hunting and fishing in the Northeast Kingdom. He holds wildlife degrees from Paul Smith's College, University of Maine, and University of New Hampshire. He worked previously in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Wyoming, Idaho, and Washington state before returning to Vermont in 2015. As the Fish and Wildlife Department's head deer biologist, Nick is responsible for all aspects of deer management in the state.
