Bristol Recreation Department welcomes children to participate in the competitive and rapidly growing sport of youth lacrosse. Introductory lacrosse will be offered for boys and girls in grades 1‐2. travel teams will be formed for boys in grades 3‐5 and boys in grades 6‐8 and girls in grades 3‐6. (8th graders can play on the Vergennes HS Club Team and participate in games. 7th graders can practice with the Vergennes HS Club Team, but will not be permitted to play in games. There is also a 7/8 Rec Team in Middlebury that practices a couple of day a week and plays in the Sunday Jamborees.)
Teams will compete locally in the Northern Vermont Lacrosse League. Emphasis will be on the teaching the game of lacrosse, developing lacrosse skills, and teaching teamwork and good sportsmanship. These teams will be the main feeder programs for the Vergennes and Mount Abraham High School teams and the Vergennes High School teams.
Grades 1‐2 Lacrosse: This co‐ed program is designed to introduce basic skills to our youngest beginners in a safe, controlled environment and play small‐sided games. Players will practice two times per week. Cost: $40 includes free youth stick!
Girls:
Grades 3‐4– and 5‐6:Teams will practice 2 evenings per week and play in Jamborees through the Northern Vermont Lacrosse League on select weeknights and weekends in May and early June.
Cost: $55 Deposit: (** You will also need to register for U.S. Lacrosse. Please see below)
Boys:

** U.S. LACROSSE REQUIREMENTS– The League that we plan in requires that all players be registered U.S. Lacrosse Members. All participants will be required to register themselves with US Lacrosse either online or bymail and provide Bristol Recreation Department with your US lacrosse membership number by MARCH 20. To Register: Go to: www.uslacrosse.org and register online or print off a Membership form to mail in. There is a $25 annual
fee. This applies to all players in grades 3rd‐8th.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Bristol Recreation Department encourages parents to participate at all levels as volunteers. Positions to be filled are: team parent (to help contact players and help coordinate the team)· game day assistance (serve as a timer, organize a snack, lining fields for jamborees.)
