Winter Botany/Wildlife Walk

Past event
Feb 22, 2019, 1:30 to 4 PM

Join us for a free winter botany and wildlife walk or snowshoe on Friday, February 22, 2019. Meet at Widow's Clearing parking lot on FR 32 (Goshen Road) in Ripton at 1:30, or meet at the Rochester Ranger Station at 1:00 to carpool there. The outing will be led by botanist MaryBeth Deller and wildlife technician Sue Staats, both of the Green Mountain National Forest, USDA Forest Service. Please bring snowshoes, boots with good traction, a water bottle or thermos, and suitable layers of clothing for the weather that day. Trail conditions will dictate whether we snowshoe or hike, and which trail we take. Terrain will be gentle, pace will be slow so we can see all that there is to see on a winter day, and we will be back at the Widow's Clearing parking lot no later than 4:00. Please RSVP by calling 802-767-4261, x 5524 (MaryBeth) or x 5515 (Sue) or emailing mdeller@fs.fed.us or sstaats@fs.fed.us . The event will be postponed if it's a rainy day, if conditions are too icy to be safe, or if weather is otherwise hazardous. Limit is 15 participants
