Warren Conservation Commission - Knotweed Control Methods Discussion
All are welcome and encouraged to attend a public meeting to acquaint local residents with invasive knotweed and potential control techniques to be held upstairs at the East Warren Community Market on Tuesday Feb. 12 at 7:00p
Knotweed control will be discussed by three Vermont experts with diverse approaches. The agenda:
Jito Coleman of the WCC
A brief science of knotweed and how to identify it
Mike Ingalls, Intervale Conservation Nursery
Efforts and successes to date in the MRV
Dan Singleton, Washington County Forester
County and State projects and perspectives
Kimberly Hagan, UVM Ag Ext
Animal grazing as a control strategy
Followed by discussion of Warren's proposed knotweed control planning
Mike Ingalls of Intervale Conservation Nursery has been involved with knotweed control efforts in Vermont , including leading the technical efforts by Waitsfield Conservation Commission on the Austin Parcel next to the Mad River.
Dan Singleton is the Washington County District Forester. Dan tracks knotweed control efforts in our area.
Kimberly Hagen has been the UVM Extension/Center for Sustainable Agriculture Grazing Specialist since 2012. She has a MS in Environmental Biology from Antioch New England.
