Opportunities for Community Dialogue on City Projects

Past event
Jan 30, 2019, 6 to 8 PM

Dear Neighbors,

As the City of Burlington looks to enhance opportunities for public participation and community development, there are several up and coming opportunities for citizens to be active contributors to the future of our Queen City. The two events below invite all citizens to learn, discuss, and co-create the future of some of the city's most important up and coming projects:

Special PAC Meeting - The Future of the Moran Plant
Join CEDO and the Parks, Arts, and Culture Committee for a presentation and community conversation on a new concept for Moran – FRAME on January 30, 2019 at 6pm in Contois Auditorium in City Hall 149 Church Street.

Called "FRAME," the new concept for Moran would peel back much of the exterior of the building to reveal the structure beneath, and in the process, transform an eyesore into a sculptural landmark along our waterfront, create new opportunities for events and recreation, and add bathrooms and other amenities to the recently reborn northern waterfront. Down the road, the structure could also provide a "frame" for other activities, like ice skating or outdoor movies. This concept is different from past ideas for Moran in a crucial way: It is affordable and achievable. More information can be found at https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/CEDO/Moran

Over the last year, the Planning Commission has been working on the 2019 update to this plan, which is our long range plan for land use and development across the City. This plan covers topics like housing, transportation, economic development, community facilities, and energy—issues that are important to think about and plan for city-wide.
