THE FLO - 1%- Community Meeting January 31th 7>9 PM at The Fayston Bob Vasseur Town Building
Please come to listen, discuss, and ask your personal questions about THE FLO.
At The Town Meeting there will be a Power Point presentation of about 35 minutes and the remainder of the time will be available for questions, and answers.
Please remember, THE FLO is a "proposed" solution for funding many of our Community needs in categories like affordable housing, expanded recreation options, more destination marketing to attract visitors to our Valley during non-peak \ mid-week seasons, and economic development such as job training; small business counseling, and strategies for future success in the "internet age".
People want to know ...where will the money go? What projects? What can we expect from these "dollars"? Will we finally see more affordable housing for this Valley? How will my children benefit from this change? Will I have expanded mountain bike trails? Will I see a roof over the ice rink with a new ice freezing system? Will I be able to have a connected PATH from Moretown to Warren? Will MRVAS be able to have the necessary emergency ambulance equipment to serve me, my family, and my community going into the next decade? Will we be able to attract more visitors to The MRV between June > October utilizing our existing underutilized mid-week infrastructure, so our restaurants, shops, and stores can prosper, and survive?
Our Town Meeting will continue ongoing dialogue where these questions can be answered for our Community.
We need input from all members of the Valley Community to help guide and shape this wonderful opportunity for the MRV. Remember, THE FLO is an evolving solution that needs input from everyone who is willing to take the time and engage with us.
We ask that each of you familiarize ourselves with the existing documentation about THE FLO. We have a "Case Statement'; Q+A; Charter; and other documents on our website for your study and review. Please take the time to study and familiarize yourself with this research, and documentation. The Website is: MRVPD.org/FLO. You can also leave us a message on our phone number at: 802-496-6782.
We also respectfully ask you keep an open mind in this process. We all agree that we "do not like taxes". The real question we must ask ourselves is whether, with what is being proposed, can it deliver to the MRV Community benefits significant enough to offset the negative perception of "another tax". We need your careful consideration of our proposal to balance "the tax perception" vs. broad community benefit resulting from THE FLO.
Please join us at The Fayston Town Hall January 31st from 7>9 PM.
We hope to see you there!
Respectfully,
The FLO Sub Committee
