Join local sustainable energy leaders and advocates in discussing the past, present, and future of energy in the towns and villages of Bennington County at the Southwestern Vermont Regional Energy Forum.
If you want to help your community save energy, reduce climate impacts, and save money on energy bills, we hope you'll attend this regional energy forum on Thursday, January 31st at 5:30 pm at the Martha Canfield Library in Arlington. Food will be provided at 5:30 pm, and the forum will begin at 6 pm.
The State, County, and many towns and villages have ambitious goals for lowering energy consumption and increasing renewable energy production and use, e.g. 90% renewable by 2050, but lofty goals require strategic action and local advocacy. This will be an important event focused on discussing and planning local action on energy issues, featuring:
• An overview of the role of energy committees, how to start one in your community, and a sampling of energy projects around the state
• Sharing of resources available to help communities
• Sharing of success stories from energy committee leaders
• Break-out sessions to allow individuals from various towns to meet and organize
As well, for Bennington and North Bennington residents, this event is an opportunity to work with the Climate Advocates of Bennington (CAB) on their proposal to the Select Board in early February of a town energy committee. CAB members hope you will join this Regional Forum as someone who may wish to become an energy committee member and/or provide feedback as they continue to advocate for the formation of this committee.
This regional energy forum is co-sponsored by the Bennington County Regional Commission, Vermont Energy and Climate Action Network (VECAN), and Efficiency Vermont.
We encourage you to invite your neighbors, friends, and anyone in your community who may have an interest in joining. There is no cost to attending this event. While RSVP is not required, we'd appreciate if you took 3-5 minutes to complete our RSVP survey by visiting www.surveymonkey.com/r/5328FCP. Your responses will help us to ensure that this event is as accommodating and engaging as possible.
We hope to see you in just over two weeks for what promises to be an important discussion, with great FREE food!
Sincerely,
Madison Kremer
