Friday, February 1st 6:30-8:30pm The History of Yoga with Richard Powell
While the word Yoga is commonplace, few realize its beautiful and rich history.
If Yoga were a passenger and history a ship, the story of its journey to our modern-day lives would be almost unbelievable. From the caves of the Himalayas to the courtyards of kings and princes, from an oral lineage virtually lost in the antiquities of time to a booming modern-day industry, Yoga has stood the test of time.

This class will cover:
Important classical texts, their authors and how they differ
History and significance of Vedic civilization
How Yoga has changed over time and remained the same
The birth of modern Yoga
Essential concepts and practices central to Yoga
Oldest known beginnings of Yoga
Cost:$20

Sunday, February 3rd 1-4pm Key Teachings of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras also with Richard Powell
Unlike modern exercise or health fads, Yoga is rooted in ancient texts, many of which we are fortunate enough to still have. Furthermore, we are still discovering and translating these texts into English! To this day, the most important text is "The Yoga Sutras of Patañjali".

In this text we find the richness of Yoga, its core philosophies, its most important practices, physical postures (āsanas), breath exercises (prānāyāma), the 8 branches of Yoga (aṣṭānga yoga) and more!
Cost: $35
