Preview of City Council Meeting Jan. 22

Past event
Jan 22, 2019, 6 PM

Neighbors,

The City Council will be meeting this upcoming Tuesday, January 22, 2019 starting at 6 p.m. in Contois Auditorium.

The first item on our agenda is an expected executive Session communication and update from Brookfield Asset Management and Devonwood, partners in the CityPlace development.

Following executive session. we will hold a public hearing regarding the proposed charter changes that will appear on the March 5, 2019 Town Meeting Day ballot. Following the public hearing, the Council will vote to place the changes on the ballot for the voter's consideration. The first proposed charter change would eliminate the business personal property tax.
The second would change and restructure the Downtown Improvement District. The final proposed charter change seeks to simplify the permit process by creating a department of permitting and inspections and to make the Zoning Administrator and Planning Director Mayoral appointments.

Public forum will begin as always at 7:30 p.m. where the public is invited to speak to the council on any matter. Additional details on the agenda can be found at http://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public. Council meetings are also televised live on BT Channel 317.

As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you,
Chip Mason
