Dear Neighbors,

This coming Tuesday, the City Council will hold the second of three meetings for the month of January. (Please note the date change. In observance of Martin Luther King Day, the Council meeting will be on Tuesday.)

The City Council meeting will begin at 6pm in Contois Auditorium in City Hall.

Our first item is an expected Executive Session communication and update from Brookfield Asset Management and Devonwood, partners in the City Place on the project from 6 to 7pm.

We have four items on our deliberative agenda:
• A public hearing regarding Charter changes that will appear on the March 5, 2019 Town Meeting Day ballot.
• Following the public hearing, the Council will vote to place the changes on the ballot for the voter's consideration. The first is a vote on a Charter change to eliminate the Business Personal Property Tax.
• The second is a vote on a Charter change to strength and restructure the Downtown Improvement District.
• The last is a vote on a Charter change to create the Department of Permitting and Inspections and to make the Zoning Administrator and Planning Director Mayoral Appointments.

Please keep in mind that you are always welcome to come to a Council meeting and speak on any topic you wish during public forum. This begins at a time certain of 7:30pm at every Council meeting. You may access the Council agenda at http://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public Please note that all Council meetings are televised live on BT Channel 317 and streamed live to your computer or phone. As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

My best,
Karen
