Kathleen Kesson Speaking in Montpelier Jan. 22

Kathleen Kesson, author of Unschooling in Paradise will be speaking at the Pavillion Building Auditorium in Montpelier at noon on Tuesday, January 22. She spoke here in the Cabot library a month ago. The topic of the talk on the 22nd will be Channeling John Dewey: What Would Vermont's Philosopher Say About Personalized Learning? How can we build bridges from our current competitive, test-driven, increasingly standardized educational model to a more holistic approach that values the individual, strengthens communities, and creates a more livable world?

Kathleen Kesson is Professor Emerita of Teaching, Learning and Leadership in the School of Education at LIU-Brooklyn. She is the former Director of Teacher Education at Goddard College, and was Director of the John Dewey Project on Progressive Education at the University of Vermont. She now lives full time in Barre, Vermont, where she is deeply involved in research on personalized learning in Vermont schools. Learn more about her at: https://kathleenkesson.com.
