Good Naked Writing Workshop with Joni Cole

Past event
Jan 26, 2019, 10 AM to 12 PM

If one of your New Year's resolutions is to write more, write better, and be happier, then the Waterbury Library is where you want to be on Saturday, January 26th from 10-noon. Writing is what Joni B. Cole knows, and she has authored the recent release, Good Naked: Reflections on How to Write More, Write Better, and Be Happier. Cole disabuses common misconceptions of how one should think, act, and be as a writer, exchanging those myths for ideas that feed creativity and productivity.

If you've struggled with writing, with "getting it right", with writer's block, this workshop can help with those writing struggles. Joni will guide participants through writing prompts for a set amount of time. The sharing of the process is what the "Good Naked" is about--exposing your creative process. Along the way, Joni will offers tips on craft and how to enjoy a more productive and positive writing life. No writing experience is necessary and all levels are welcome.

Joni knows this struggle as an author and her mission is helping people write more, write better, and enjoy the process. She believes there is a writer in anyone who chooses to follow that path, and that "writing and sharing our stories is not only personally meaningful, but one of the most powerful forms of social activism". Joni's new book Good Naked: Reflections on How to Write More, Write Better, and Be Happier is included in Poets & Writers magazine's list of "Best Books for Writers", and she is the author of the acclaimed book Toxic Feedback: Helping Writers Survive and Thrive. She has also written Another Bad-Dog Book: Essays on Life, Love, and Neurotic Human Behavior, and the three-volume This Day series which invited hundreds of women across America and from all walks of life to share the reality of their daily lives. She teaches in the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program at Dartmouth College, serves on the creative writing faculty of the New Hampshire Institute of Art, and is founder of the Writer's Center of White River Junction, Vermont. Joni is also a frequent contributor to The Writer magazine, and leads expressive writing workshops for a diversity of social service programs. Joni has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and USA Fellowship Award. For more information go to: www.jonibcole.com.
