Avi Bauer Starts Library in Malawi:
Underhill Center Youth Sends Beloved Books around the World
Underhill, Vermont, (3/3/14) My name is Avi Bauer and I am collecting 1,000-1,500 books to start a primary and community school library in Malawi, Africa as part of the African Library Project. I am collecting books at the Camel’s Hump Middle School and Browns River Middle School until May 20th. If you would also like to donate to help towards the $600.00 shipping fee, please visit the following donation website for this project at: http://www.youcaring.com/other/avi-bauer-starts-a-library-in-malawi-africa/143853
The African Library Project has mobilized volunteers from across the United States to start 561 libraries in 8 countries over the past five years. It is an all-volunteer organization based in Portola Valley, California that helps Americans start community libraries with African partners, “We couldn’t do it without the dedication and creativity of book drive organizers,” says Chris Bradshaw, founder of the African Library Project.
I am requesting donations of gently used paperback and hardcover books in English at Kindergarten through eighth grade reading level. Books can be dropped off at Browns River Middle School, and Camels Hump Middle School in designated containers. I am trying to bring together our community to help a community in Malawi, Africa. If you would like more information about the African Library Project please visit the website at: http://www.africanlibraryproject.org/.
