On recent trips to the Southwest we have met, and purchased artwork from, numerous native artist from the Acoma Pueblo, Zuni Pueblo and Navajo Nation in Arizona and New Mexico. Since returning from our latest trip the end of October our friendships with many of these artists has grown and developed into a blossoming fair trade partnership to bring their art work to Vermont. Southwest Tribal Arts represented these artists for the first time with a booth at the Vermont International Festival a few weeks ago to share some of their art work, and lots of cultural and visitor information from their homelands.
We, the Dube' family, and Southwest Tribal Arts, are having a Pop-Up event this weekend at Practical Magick in Essex Junction to share art work and information . Artist direct distinctive and highly prized Acoma Pottery, fine quality Zuni turquoise inlay silver jewelry & stone fetish carvings, and authentic Navajo jewelry, arts and crafts will be for sale. Cultural and tourism information, along with photos from these tribal areas will also be on display. For rock hounds we will have Arizona petrified wood and jaspers.
Please stop by and check out handmade, fair trade native gifts for the holidays!
