Tomorrow, December 15, is the last day of Open Enrollment for Vermont Health Connect. Open Enrollment is a time for Vermonters to sign up for or to switch health insurance plans. Open Enrollment is especially important this year because there are changes to how much Vermont Health Connect plans cost. For example:
· Currently, many Vermonters have a Silver Plan. This may no longer be the best option for most people who have that plan, as Vermonters can now get a Gold Plan for a cost similar to that of a Silver Plan.
· Families will get $1,200 more Advance Premium Tax Credits (APTC), on average, to make up for premium cost increases.
· Many uninsured Vermonters can get a free Bronze Plan, as the Bronze Plan premium is often less than the premium subsidy.
Also, if you think you may be paying too much for health insurance, now is the time to check to be sure Vermont Health Connect has not made an error.
Please call 1-800-917-7787 with questions or to speak with a Health Care Advocate. Health Care Advocates are a resource for all Vermonters, regardless of income, helping with all health care and health insurance questions. Learn more: https://vtlawhelp.org/health.
I am hearing stories of long wait times on the phones today. I would like to emphasize that the December 15 deadline simply means that the process must be STARTED by tomorrow. If you are trying to sign up or change your plan and unable to get through to Vermont Health Connect, please contact me directly (730-0604 or lucyrogersvt@gmail.com) as I can help you document your attempt in order to receive an extension on the December 15 deadline.
Thank you,
