It's time to carry the banner! Be inspired...Join 8 of Wallingford's youth on December 14th. & 15th.

Produced and directed by Saskia Hagen Groom, musical directed by Saige King, choreographed by Tegan Waite, set designed by Nancy Scarcello, stage managed by Barb Lassen, and countless others behind the scenes (it truly takes a village!) ....Newsies, the Broadway Musical is based on the true historical strike of newspaper boys in NYC in 1899.

The story is set in turn-of-the century New York City, and tells the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teen-aged "Newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys' expense, Jack rallies Newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right!

The newspaper boys' strike of 1899 was a youth-led campaign to force change in the way that Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst's newspapers compensated their child labor force of newspaper hawkers. The strike lasted two weeks, causing Pulitzer's New York World to reduce its circulation from 360,000 to 125,000.

The story is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience.

Show times at the Paramount Theatre are: December 14th @ 7:00 pm and December 15th @ 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm at the Paramount Theatre in Rutland. Tickets are just $10 for children and seniors, $12 for adults at www.paramountvt.org
