Join us at Combat Fitness (276 East Allen St, Winooski) for a 2.5 hour seminar on self-defense for women with Combat Fitness owner and head Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor, Vincent Guy. Vincent has been training since 1998 and received his BJJ black belt from Gracie Barra Boston Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under professor Roberto Maia. he is also a USJA brown belt in Judo and has competed and medaled in several regional and national tournaments. Vincent has coached the University of Vermont Jiu Jitsu team for over 14 years and has coached many athletes to victory in self-defense, grappling arts and mixed martial arts.
Topics covered include:
- situational awareness - trusting your instincts and being a hard target (discussion)
- breakfalls and standing up in base
- sprawling against the pick up or tackle
- choking defense with finger breaks
- defense against headlocks and bear hugs including defense against being picked up
- using the clothes (optional based on what people are wearing)
- common strikes (palm, hammerfist, thumb, kicks and stomps)
- real life drills and finding your exit

Please arrive with your normal active wear. suggested apparel includes active pants and long sleeve top. Seminar will include time for discussion, demonstrations, and real-life drills with the instructor(s) and a partner.
