On Thursday, December 13th, Grace Cottage Family Health will host a free blood pressure clinic, run by Community Health Team member Bill Monahan, RN.
Those over 50 who have been told they have high blood pressure, or who do not know their blood pressure are encouraged to attend. Participants will learn about hypertension, the 'silent killer', which can lead to heart disease, stroke, heart failure and more. Bill will share steps that can be taken to lower one's blood pressure and reduce related health risks.
Participants will each get their blood pressure taken, find out what the numbers mean, and learn why daily home monitoring is important. Those attending are invited to have their own home monitoring kits validated or find out about acquiring a kit.
Advanced registration is required and limited to 10. The December 13th event will take place from 4:00 – 5:00 pm in the Grace Cottage Community Wellness Center, Heins Building, 133 Grafton Road, Townshend. To sign up, contact Bill Monahan at WMonahan@gracecottage.org or at 365-3762.
