Dummerston Conservation presents The Basics of Forestry Plans and Logging Operations

Are you curious about Current Use in your community? Do you want to understand what is going on at the logging operation in your neighbor's woods? Sam Schneski will give us an overview of Current Use and forestry plans, what to expect when logging is in process and completed, and how we can learn more about forestry plans and logging operations in our community. Please come with your questions!

About the Presenter:

Sam Schneski has been working as the Windham and Windsor County Forester for the Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation since June 2006. He has a master's degree in Forestry from UMass, Amherst and a bachelor's degree in Parks Management from UMaine, Orono. As County Forester, Sam interacts with landowners, foresters, loggers, maple producers, Christmas tree growers, school groups, non-profit conservation groups, town conservation commissions and other government agencies. He enjoys being one of two chainsaw trainers for the Vermont Forestry Division staff. With the help of his two daughters as quality control/chief taste testers, he is a small-scale sugar maker in Guilford, producing about 70 gallons of maple syrup annually.
