150 Visual / Word Dioramas are on display, ready for you to explore them. Exhibiting artist Lou Scott invites you to the reception on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to "experience the WOW!"
Of this show, Lou says, "Because I wouldn't show men in battle with my models, they kicked me out of a NJ military modelling club. Soon after, for some unknown reason I started collecting Santa Clauses (many of the rarest ones you will see at this show). The symbol of 'Peace on Earth' obviously appealed to me. For another unknown reason, I became interested in Buddhism - especially with its emphasis on compassion. So 'peace and compassion' combined to lead me to creating what I call, 'Visual / Word Dioramas.'"
"They are calls to action for both children and adults. Each piece depicts issues that challenge our lives - racism, women rights, global warming, pollution, bullying prejudice... To appeal to children, I use animal figures and fantasy symbols as metaphors for these issues. In the narrative that accompanies each piece, I speak to the issue - what actions we might undertake to resist the worst of these issues that contaminate the human condition. I seek to educate, provoke, inform and entertain."
