This Town Hall Meeting event will share details related to the creation of an improvement district in Downtown Burlington, as well as create a space for members of the public to ask questions and have their concerns and ideas heard. The following is the planned agenda for the program:
Welcome & Introduction: Councilor Jane Knodell will provide short remarks explaining the goal and flow of the evening. Other hosts will also have a short time to introduce themselves.
Presentation: Councilor Adam Roof, joined by members of the Downtown Improvement District Advisory Committee and others, will lead a presentation on relevant material concerning the options before City Council related to the creation of a new improvement district in Burlington's Downtown. This presentation will address, at a minimum, the following questions:
1. What is an improvement district?
2. Why do we need a downtown improvement district?
3. What is the history of this project?
4. What are the options in front of the City Council?
5. What has been and what will be the public process for this project?
Public Forum: Members of the public will be able to make statements and ask questions on information presented.
Closing: Councilor Brian Pine will make closing remarks addressing the next steps in the process ask participants to give feedback on a short survey which will be distributed at the meeting.
