Argentine Tango Practice Group

We're starting up a Champlain Islands practice group for Argentine Tango, holding informal practices two Fridays a month for anyone who's interested (no prior experience necessary, though experienced dancers are especially welcome) at Dance in the Isle at 6 Reynolds Road in Grand Isle, just minutes from South Hero.

Our first practice is Friday 12/7 from 7:00-8:30 PM.

No partner is necessary. The requested contribution is $5-$10 per person to help pay for the space. You're can just show up, but if you RSVP first, that will help me plan better, and I can answer any questions you may have.

Bring a pair of clean-soled, non-gripping shoes. Leather- or suede-soled dance shoes are ideal. Socks can work in a pinch.

Keep in mind that our practices are not classes, and participants at the moment are all in the beginner to intermediate range. We can get you started with the basics if you haven't danced Argentine Tango before and share steps if you have. Classes with a skilled teacher are possible going forward, if people are interested.

This also might be of interest: Queen City Tango (www.QueenCityTango.org) holds milongas (Tango social dances) that are open to the public twice a month. Our Champlain Islands practices are designed to alternate with those. The milongas are usually in Burlington, but the next one is this Saturday, 12/1 at Ferrisburgh Town Hall, with a free beginner lesson at 7:00 and the milonga starting at 7:45.

PS - If you're interested in Swing instead of (or in addition to) Tango, I can point you in the right direction for that, too.
