9:00 - 10:00 am
Conference organizer Ian Hitchcock previews conference highlights.

Keynoter Michael Shank of the Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance talks about how to bring climate change messages home to people, and how local energy projects cut through the partisan gridlock that's on the national level. Much of what we discuss is found in an article he wrote for Huffington Post.

Kate Stephenson, chair of the Montpelier Energy Advisory Committee speaks about their work to reduce energy use in municipal operations, where they've set the goal of being carbon neutral by 2030, and in the city as a whole, where their goal is 100% renewable energy by 2050.

10:00 - 10:30 am
In Resilience Thoughts, Gene Logsdon describes ways to substitute plant products for mined materials, like the way Henry Ford made car bodies out of plasticized soy beans. In a locally told Extempo story, Dan Dolan describes what happened when he was arrested at a party celebrating the arrest and conviction of one of his housemates. Plus upcoming events related to energy, food, and the local economy at the end of the age of oil.
