The Farm at VYCC uses our 400 acres of beautiful land in Richmond, VT to increase food security for all Vermonters. Our Health Care Share program provides area youth with employment, leadership and agricultural skills, all while growing and donating to more than 500 Member Families through partnerships with Health Care Providers across the state. In 2017, we grew and donated over 80,000 pounds of produce that helped Vermont families live a healthier lifestyle. We hope to expand the impact of our program in 2018, and need your help to produce the fresh fruits and vegetables that will support over 500 families across Vermont through the 5-month program!
We need volunteers to help pack our last Health Care Share for delivery. This is a special holiday share for Vermont families across Chittenden and Washington Counties, we only have around 200 to pack! The work will consist of dispersing root and storage crops (potatoes, beets, winter squash, cabbage) into bags and boxes for delivery at our health center partners. We will be primarily inside an unheated barn, so dress for a Vermont winter!
Volunteer as an individual or bring a group! Our volunteer shifts are 9-12pm or 1-4pm…or come for the whole day and take a lunch break with us 12-1pm.
If you're interested in contributing to the food security of Vermont families through meaningful and hard work, please get in touch with us! For more information, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Claire Londagin at volunteer@vycc.org. We look forward to seeing you on the Farm.
