Oral histories, Archival Images & Texts
4PM Sunday, December 2, 2018
Marlboro College, Appletree building

Students and faculty culminate a Marlboro College seminar with an exhibit exploring LGBTQIA+ cultures during a transformative period known as the "long 1970s." Through oral history and archival materials, Claiming Space frames overlooked moments across our region and throughout the era.

Claiming Space marks the completion of a course co-taught by Marlboro College American Studies Professor Kate Ratcliff; HB Lozito, Executive Director of Green Mountain Crossroads, established to connect rural LGBTQ people; and Ain Gordon, a theater artist focused on overlooked histories. This semester-long collaborative community research project was supported by Marlboro College, Vermont Performance Lab and Green Mountain Crossroads.
