On Monday, November 26 at 6:30 p.m., Manchester Community Library offers a free film screening of the movie based on Robert Penn Warren's 1947 Pulitzer-winning novel, All the King's Men. This 1949 Best Picture winner starring Broderick Crawford is about the rise and fall of a Southern politician who starts out as an honest corruption fighter only to degenerate into a ruthless, unethical demagogue. Running time is 110 minutes. MCL is hosting this free film screening in support of the upcoming First Wednesdays program, during which Middlebury professor Deborah Evans will examine the moral challenges in what many consider the best political novel of all time. Books are also available at the Library to read in advance or afterwards (not required). For more info, contact the Library at 802-362-2607.
