Better Angels Benefit Concert Comes to Vermont

Past event
Dec 18, 2018, 7 PM

This December, the Better Angels Benefit Tour will bring a fundraising/awareness show to the East Coast on behalf of the non-profit Better Angels. The event will include an introduction to Better Angels' work and a concert reflecting on our civic discourse. The project is led by performer Sage Snider, who joined Better Angels in 2016 after participating in one of their discussion workshops. Since then, she's become more involved in Better Angels and is working with their national network to spread its message.

The Cause
Founded in 2016, Better Angels is a 501(c)3 that aims to bridge our national political divide by bringing "red" and "blue" citizens together in a moderated workshop environment. They are also building a media and scholarly network and increasing efforts that target policy makers. While there are similar discussion organizations, Better Angels is unique in having equal "blue" and "red" representation, focusing on the issue of polarization, and building a national, grassroots movement that has caught the attention of major news networks (e.g., CNN, the AP, NBC, NYTimes).

We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory…will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.

—Abraham Lincoln, 1861. First Inaugural Address
