Seeds of Renewal Opening Celebration

Past event
Nov 17, 2018, 1 to 3 PM

Join the Vermont Historical Society for the opening celebration for its newest exhibit, "Seeds of Renewal", which explores Abenaki agricultural history, cuisine, and ceremony. On view at the Vermont History Museum at 109 State St.

The celebration includes a talk by Prof. Frederick M. Wiseman on the amazing wealth of heretofore hidden historical knowledge of Indigenous Vermont cultivated plants, agricultural systems, culinary techniques, and ceremony. Prof. Wiseman will be joined by Ms. Peggy Fullerton of Sagakwa Farm in New Hampshire, who has intimate experience with planting, growing and harvesting these invaluable ancestral reminders of our edible history. Refreshments provided. Free & open to everyone.

The exhibit is on view starting November 6 through April 2019. Funding for this project came from a 2018 Making of Nations Interpretive Theme Grant from the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership. Support also provided by the Montpelier Community Fund.
