MRVBC is focused on enhancing opportunities for wintertime backcountry recreation in the Mad River Valley and adjacent areas. We are excited to work with the CTA, public land managers, and our local community to create a network of locally-supported winter backcountry trails and terrain while promoting environmental stewardship, mountain lands conservation, and backcountry safety.
The impetus for the new organization was the need to address opportunities for backcountry skiers and other wintertime recreationists on state lands within the Camels Hump Management Unit. Recognizing the need for a continued formal voice and collaborative approach for well-managed backcountry wintertime recreation in and around the Mad River Valley, local enthusiasts formed the non-profit organization in partnership with the CTA. The MRVBC is guided by a board of directors and advisory committee.
MRVBC's launch party is open to all who wish to celebrate the winter season and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow outdoor recreationalists. The evening activities will include a short presentation about MRVBC, slideshow, cash bar, prizes, raffle, and musical entertainment by the Mad Mountain Scramblers.
