The date for this year's annual Christmas Bird Count is Saturday December 15, 2018.
The Christmas Bird Count is the longest running citizen science survey in the world. It's a census of birds done annually by volunteer birdwatchers working with the National Audubon Society. The population data is used for scientific studies, particularly conservation biology.
There's a small crowd counting in the Randolph area and it's always a good time to go outside with your binoculars and see what kind of birds are around. You don't have to be a serious birder to participate. You can even send in data from your bird feeders.
