An ongoing program that explores how our community has been shaped by immigrants will continue on Saturday, Nov. 3, at noon at the Rockingham Free Public Library.
This free talk will give audience members a glimpse of what life was like for some of the English and Italian immigrants who settled in the Bellows Falls area during the late 19th and 20th centuries.
Doreen Eno, who lived in London during World War II at the height of the German blitz, will discuss how her life changed after meeting and marrying Charles Eno, an American soldier, and moving to town at the end of the war.
Aurelius DiBernardo and L. Raymond Massucco will discuss their Italian roots. DiBernardo will talk about his Italian grandparents' origins in Penne, and their subsequent immigration to this area. Massucco's family, who came from Lacona, near Turin, ran a fruit and vegetable stand on the Square in Bellows Falls from 1896 to 1931.
The program is cosponsored by the library, the Rockingham Historic Preservation Commission and the Bellows Falls Historical Society. Light refreshments will be served.
The library is at 65 Westminster St., Bellows Falls, and is handicapped accessible. Information: the library at 463-4270; programming@rockinghamlibrary.org; or rockinghamlibrary.org.
