Genealogy: Early Vermont Settlers to 1784
We are excited to have renowned Vermont researcher Scott Andrew Bartley as our visiting lecturer. Bartley is the Study Project Director of "Early Vermont Settlers to 1784" - a project that sets out to identify and document Vermont's earliest emigrants. It is quickly becoming a definitive resource for early Vermont genealogical research.
The study covers migration patterns, religious & political influences and identifies many of those early settlers. Sketches document each head of household and their spouses through primary and secondary sources. It also includes all vital records for the head of the family, spouse, children and children's spouses, as well as available information on occupations, military records, affiliations and probate records.
The first volume has already been published. New sketches are added to the website of NEHGS, AmericanAncestors.org, on a monthly basis. (This subscription website is available at our library). We are thrilled to have Scott Andrew Bartley back at our library and believe anyone with Vermont roots or an historical interest in the state will enjoy this opportunity.
Classes at the VT Genealogy Library are $10.00 and run from 10:30 to noon. The library is located on Hegeman Ave, Fort Ethan Allen, Colchester. Visit our website www.vtgenlib.org or call 802-310-9285 for more details.
