On Saturday, Nov 3rd, Scott Andrew Bartley, a professional genealogist & lecturer, will speak at the VT Genealogy Library about a major Vermont resource that is being developed by the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) in Boston. Bartley is the Study Project Director of "Early Vermont Settlers to 1784" - a multi-year effort to identify and document Vermont's earliest emigrants from the older New England colonies & states.
The study covers migration patterns, religious & political influences and identifies many of those early settlers. Sketches document each head of household and their spouses through primary and secondary sources. It also identifies the children, many of whom moved on to New York, Ohio and beyond. Each sketch includes the ancestry of the head of household and all vital records for the head, spouse, children and children's spouses, as well as available information on occupations, military records, affiliations and any probate records.
The VT Genealogy Library is located on Hegeman Ave in Ft. Ethatn Allen, Colchester. Visitors are welcome and pre-registration is not required. The class fee is $10 and includes all-day access to the library's online databases (Ancestry, FindMyPast, etc), 4,500 books & other resources. A handout from this talk will also be provided.
