I volunteer with the Green Mountain Adventure Racing Association, a local nonprofit that promotes adventure in the outdoors. Our usual winter race is 10 hours of skiing, snowshoeing, crossing a ravine on ropes... fun, but not exactly kid-friendly.
Many of our volunteers have kids who would enjoy a bit of adventure, so we're trying something new on March 8th: The Bolton Valley Wintry Wander, our first family-focused event designed for parents and kids to team up and snowshoe a bit in the not-quite-backcountry.
