The Basket-of-Plenty raffle will be going on until Monday, November 19th when a winner will be picked. In the spirit of Thanksgiving the basket [which is a really nice one the looks like it may have been homemade] will be filled with mostly homemade items.
There are several homemade mixes, a few you might even like to use for Thanksgiving dinner. There is an eggnog mix and a mocha mix, as well as a mix for Almond Coffee Creamer. There is also a mix called "Cream of Anything Soup" which might be great to use to make some Cream of Turkey Soup with any leftover turkey you might have. Still to be added are mixes for biscuits, stuffing and a pie crust.
Donna Trucksess, a friend of mine, is planning to donate a homemade fudge brownie mix.
One mix I included, even though it isn't really part of the traditional Thanksgiving dinner is a mix for Refried Beans. Proving that sometimes I just crawled out of the cabbage patch, I wasn't aware you could make flour out of beans. It was interesting learning how to grind up beans to make this mix.
All the mix jars have the recipes on the back so if you like them you can make them yourself. And if you'd like to see what other kind of mixes you can make you can check the list out at http://www.Budget101.com . It's a really great website with a lot of great tips.
I'm also going to be making a batch of homemade peanut butter fudge that a lot of people commented on that it's very good and add that to the basket at the time of the raffle. And I'm making a hand crocheted scarf and hat set to be added to the raffle, as well.
Some other items include some pumpkin scented candles, some books and a few other surprises.
Tickets are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. You can view the raffle basket on the circulation desk of the Brown Public Library when you come in and purchase tickets at the circulation desk.
