Oct 27, 2018, 10:30 AM to 12 PM

This Saturday the VT Genealogy Library is hosting a talk entitled "Unlocking the Secrets of Your Family's 19th Century Photos" by Sharon Flaherty. Sharon will discuss the progression of photographic technologies and how to recognize them, as well as how to care for rare photos. She will also cover how to identify the dates of photos from the photograph type, the backdrops and the clothing in the image.

Sharon will have samples of several early photograph types on display and some examples of how one can deduce the approximate time-frame from the background & clothing. Popular books by authors like Maureen Taylor, Gary Clark and Denise Levenick will be available for purchase at sale prices.

The class will begin at 10:30 AM, the fee is $10 and the class includes an 8-page handout with advice and links for further research. The $10 fee also entitles you to use the library's 4500 book and 14 computers with access to Ancestry & FindMyPast as well as major Quebec and New England online databases - we're open until 4 pm.
