Colchester Parks & Recreation and the Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences - Vermont Campus are excited to announce the inaugural Halloween Fest, coming up THIS SATURDAY, October 27, 2018! This FREE, all-ages event will feature a variety of attractions to celebrate the autumn season and the Halloween holiday. Costumes are encouraged! Event parking is at the Colchester High School (please, handicapped-only at the Bayside Park lot).
Halloween Fest will run from 3:00 – 6:00pm at Bayside Park. Attractions include carnival games, lawn games, inflatables, pony rides, laser tag, hay rides, face painting, and candy prizes! Bring your own pumpkin for our pumpkin painting area, or purchase one from Sam Mazza's who will be on-site at Bayside! Students from the Albany College of Pharmacy – Vermont Campus will also offer activities and demonstrations of wacky science proportions, including a slime-making area, play dough making, pumpkin volcanoes, marshmallow catapults, and more! Local food vendors will be on-site, including: Berdas Roadside Eatery (burgers, hot dogs, and specials for this event), Open Hearth Pizza (wood-fired pizza), Re-Mark-Able Bakery (baked goods, with gluten-free options), DoughBro Dounuts (homemade doughnuts), and Sam Mazza's (cider doughnuts). Colchester Health & Fitness will do a POUND Rockout demo to some popular Halloween songs, and visitors are encouraged to join in! Colchester Police Officers will be at the park to hand out candy and prizes too.
Thank you to Shaw's Supermarkets – Colchester for donating candy for this event!
At 6:00 PM, we will show a Movie in the Park on the CHS Practice Field. We'll be showing the Disney Channel Original movie, "Halloweentown"! Marnie (Kimberly J. Brown) and her siblings get a big shock when they follow their grandmother (Debbie Reynolds) home to Halloweentown - and find out they come from a family of witches. The town is the only place where supernatural beings can lead a 'normal' life, but trouble is looming, and on her 13th birthday Marnie not only finds she is a witch, but that she and her family are involved in a fight against the evil that is threatening to take over the world.
IN THE EVENT OF RAIN: The Movie in the Park will be moved to the Colchester High School Performing Arts Center. This announcement will be made on Friday. Some events will run in light, intermittent rain, but all will be cancelled in the event of continuous rainfall. Get the most up-to-date info by following @ColchesterRec on social media! We'll post updates on our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat with regard to day-of events.
