Our Gem!

Full disclaimer – I sit on the board of the Lake Champlain Land Trust. But I am also a resident of Appletree Point and I simply want to share here a walk I took today on Rock Point Peninsula. If you haven't walked the trails recently, please carve out some time, pack a sandwich and grab a friend.

This gem in our own back yard is spectacular. The views are breathtaking and its stillness interrupted by only the cries of seagulls flying the blue skies above.

Today's outing reminded me that, if we are successful in our fundraising, the beauty of Rock Point Peninsula could forever be protected and open to the public for everyone to enjoy. For our families, our friends and those who travel to visit.

If you want to learn more about the trails and the Rock Point and Arms Forest Coalition campaign to permanently protect this unique area, go to https://www.lclt.org/rock-point/. The photos themselves are worth the click. In addition, the Lake Champlain Land Trust will be celebrating its 40th anniversary on October 24th at the Shelburne Vineyard. Details are on the Lake Champlain Land Trust website or phone 802-862-4150. Our Executive Director, Chris Boget, will give a short presentation on new 2019 priority conservation initiatives, including an exciting update on the Rock Point and Arms Forest project. There will also be appetizers and door prizes.

In the meantime, enjoy your moment of zen at Rock Point!
