The NORTHERN THIRD PIANO QUARTET presents fall concerts in Montpelier (10/20) and Richmond (10/21), featuring the world premiere of a new piano quartet by Brookfield composer Erik Nielsen, along with music of Schumann, Pärt, and Fauré. The Montpelier concert will take place Saturday, 7:30pm at the Unitarian Church, with a pre-concert talk by Nielsen at 7pm. The Richmond performance is Sunday at 3pm at the Richmond Free Library. Admission to both concerts is by donation (Suggested $10-$20).
The members of the Vermont-based chamber music group are: Sofia Hirsch, violin; Elizabeth Reid, viola; John Dunlop, cello; and Alison Bruce Cerutti, piano. In celebration of their 6th year of collaboration, they commissioned a new piano quartet from Nielsen. Creation of the work was made possible in part by a grant from the Vermont Community Foundation's Arts Endowment Fund.
