This week the OLLI program will be about rum running on Lake Champlain. Scott Mclaughlin, the director of the Granite museum and and archeologist and historian, will present a program called: "The Chase: Lake Champlain's Rum Runners and Boat Patrol." Trying to avoid the law during Prohibition, professional smugglers created a seemingly never-ending flow of liquor across the Canadian border into Vermont and New York via Lake Champlain. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 1:30 pm, at the Montpelier Senior Activities Center, 58 Barre St. Free to OLLI members, $5.00 for all others.
