Dr. Jackson Kytle will give the Osher Lecture on Wednesday, October 17, 1:30 pm at the Commodores Inn. Author and Social Psychologist, Kytle served as President of Goddard College, Vice President of Norwich University, and Deputy Provost of The New School. A graduate of Middlebury College, he earned a Ph.D. from Columbia University. Jackson has lived in Stowe for twenty-five years with his wife, Tari Prinster, and family.
Kytle's topic is: "More Fun, Less Fear: Managing Stage Fright". Using examples from piano performance, public speaking and tennis, Kytle will apply concepts from progressive education, neurobiology and cognitive social psychology to challenge the fear narrative that so many experience. His talk will explore performance emotions that are felt on a recital hall or tennis court and the way that emotions can change from initial anxiety to positive or negative feelings. Topics to be covered are: opportunity thinking, three types of active listening, performing in the moment, and cognitive desensitization.

Doors open at 12:45. Lecture starts promptly at 1:30. Refreshments follow.
