80th Anniversary Celebration at the Waterbury Dam, Completed October 1938

The Civilian Conservation Corps completed construction of the Waterbury Dam 80 years ago. Join us Saturday, October 13th for a FREE celebration of the cultural and geological history while you meet others connected to this local gem.

11am - Tour of CCC Camp Smith. Meet at Camp Smith Trail parking area (by Granite Monument on Little River Rd.); 45 min. Tours are along Universally Accessible paths.

12 Noon: Bring Your Own Picnic Lunch at the Dam. Meet & mingle with speakers: Chad Ummel, Dept of Forests, Parks and Recreation–Aquatic invasive species, recreation on water and remote camping.

Anne Imhoff, Waterbury Historical Society- CCC trail discovery, chimney project and future trail work opportunities.

Jessica Halterman, Dept of Forests, Parks and Recreation- Community connections, recreation on land.

Ben Green, Dept of Environmental Conservation– Dam operations, past, present & future.

Brian Aust, Dept of Forests, Parks and Recreation- Interpretive trail leader.
