"Better a cruel truth than a comfortable delusion."
― Edward Abbey
Join VT House candidates Mari Cordes and Caleb Elder along with VT Gubernatorial candidate Christine Hallquist at Holley Hall in Bristol for a screening of the film, Denial.
Denial is considered to be a primitive defense developed in early childhood. On the individual level it is effective for short term, but not for long term, especially when we are faced with life threatening conditions like addiction (90% or more will deny that the substances that they are addicted to are harming them) or heart disease or cancer – or the death of our communities and planet. It is also important to point out that with denial, the possibility of oppressing others based on one's inaccurate view of reality is always at hand, if not lurking nearby.
