Northern Stage YES to Perform Bread and Roses, Too

Past event

A special treat is in store for Barre this coming Sunday morning! The Youth Ensemble Studio (YES) from Northern Stage is performing a 45 minute theatrical exploration of protest, activism, and immigration inspired by Katherine Paterson's novel, Bread and Roses, Too, created by members of YES, inspired by the book by Katherine Paterson.

YES partners again with the Vermont Humanities Council's Vermont Reads program, using Katherine Paterson's book Bread and Roses, Too. Under the direction of theater artists Hannah Ferguson, Zachary Gottschall, and Virginia Ogden, YES students will engage, challenge, and inspire audiences while learning to create an original piece of theater using music, movement, and community conversations.

Because these are all high school students, and they have other performances scheduled, this unusual time slot is what they could manage between their performances and the Labor Hall's availability. The students wanted so much to perform their creation in the Labor Hall where the Bread and Roses, Too story was inspired.

Please come if you can to show these kids that they are supported in Barre! This performance is free and open to the public. For more information contact vogden@northernstage.org or ttaylor@vermonthumanities.org. 802.522.7818
