Afro-Caribbean Music and Culture!

Past event
Oct 14, 2018, 4 to 5:30 PM

Sunday October 14 from 4 PM - 5:30 PM: Judi Emanuel Family and Friends will hold a highly interactive community engagement workshop that blends performance with teaching participants about Afro-Caribbean lyrics and melodies linked to Jamaican Mento, Ska, hypnotic Rasta drums and undeniable reggae rhythms that communicate the real meaning of Bob Marley's 'one love, one heart' philosophy. They are South Burlington residents, new members of our Vermont community and multi-generational: Judi (the mom), Mike Senior (the dad) and their high-school-age daughter and son form the ensemble along with Eric Sample (a Champlain College music instructor). This fabulous group brings us the warmth of the Caribbean and the power of Afro-Caribbean beats to enhance our community social well-being (which I think we could all use a good dose of right about now).

This event is FREE but admission is limited to 35 people-- we are trying to get a blend of folks from the six towns covered by the ArtPlace America funding: Charlotte, Shelburne, Hinesburg, South Burlington, Burlington and Winooski although of course ALL are welcome regardless of where you live. Happening on Sunday October 14 from 4 PM- 5:30 PM, sign up here: http://bit.ly/1Heart1LoveatCFF
