Champlain Philharmonic Fall Concerts

The Champlain Philharmonic, under the direction of Matthew LaRocca, will present its Fall Concert Series on Saturday, October 20th at 7:30 pm at Ackley Hall at Green Mountain College in Poultney and Sunday, October 21st at 4:00 pm at the Mahaney Center for the Arts at Middlebury College. The program, entitled, "DANSA- Music from the Old Country" features Grammy-nominated Vermont flutist Karen Kevra as soloist performing the Doppler Fantaisie Pastorale Hongroise, Op. 26 and Bizet's Fantasie Brilliant Sur Carmen. The program will also include the wild and wonderful eastern European dances of Brahms and Dvorak (based on music of the traveling "Gypsy" (Roma) bands) and Veils and Whirlwinds by Vermont composer Peter Hamlin.

The Champlain Philharmonic is a community orchestra that performs regularly in the Middlebury and Rutland regions of Vermont and includes Shrewsbury residents Kristi Bragg and Roxanne Ramah. This is the orchestra's 15th performance season.
