Wheels for Warmth is coming up on October 25th and 26th--and Stowe Rotary needs your old tires and some volunteers to help collect them.
Here are the details: Wheels for Warmth is a great program to re-use or recycle used tires with the proceeds going to fuel assistance for low-income Vermonters. Stowe Rotary will be collecting tires at the parking area on Weeks Hill Road across from the Swimming Hole. The VT DMV will inspect all the tires. Useable ones will be re-sold, while those that can't be used will be charged $4 per tire (less expensive than taking them to the dump). All the money collected from used tire sales and re-cycling will be used to buy heating fuel for our low-income neighbors--a win-win for everyone.
The collection times: 2:00-6:00 pm each day Thursday and Friday, October 35th and 26th.
And yes, we'd welcome some help collecting the tires as people bring them in. (Ah, the glamorous work Stowe Rotary does in our community, eh?) We'll have two shifts each day, 2-4 pm and 4-6 pm. Just respond to my email address here to sign up. Thanks!
