Vladimir Aleksandrovich Dukelsky was born in Minsk on October 10, 1903. He moved to America, changed his name to Vernon Duke and wrote a slew of great music: April in Paris, Autumn in New York, Taking a Chance on Love, and the incomparable I Can't Get Started.
