World War I Talks at Sheldon Museum in Middlebury

The Sheldon Museum is presenting a series of talks in conjunction with its current exhibit "Doughboys and Flyboys: WWI Stories by Vermonters from the Home and Battlefront" At noon on Wednesday, October 10, Tim Spears, Middlebury College Vice President for Academic Development and Professor of American Studies, will offer his insights into the changes in how our veterans are publicly honored in cemeteries here and and abroad.

Future talks include Fran Bull discussing her art installation, "In Flanders Fields" on October17, Rebecca Bennette on "Dissent during World War I: American and British Conscientious Objection and the Strange Case of German Silence", Bill Lipke and Bill Mares co-authors of "Grafting Memories: Essays on War and Commemoration" culminating with two Gallery Talks by Robert Bernheim and Brennan Gauthier on Veterans Day. All talks are free with Museum admission.
